Emerging Talents in Classical Architecture and Design Honored by ICAA

The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) has recently announced the recipients of its prestigious Awards for Emerging Excellence in the Classical Tradition. These awards highlight the achievements of young professionals who are making significant contributions to the fields of architecture, landscape design, and craftsmanship, blending traditional principles with innovative approaches.

Kate Chambers was awarded the Architect's Prize for Excellence in Architecture, a recognition made possible through a partnership with The King's Foundation and INTBAU. Chambers, with her advanced degrees from Notre Dame and experience at Tippett Sease Baker Architecture, along with her role as a visiting professor, has shown a deep commitment to traditional vernacular architectural design.

Douglas Clark received the Bunny Mellon Prize for Excellence in Garden Design. With over a decade of experience at Janice Parker Landscape Architects and a unique perspective influenced by his Brazilian-American background, Clark focuses on sustainable practices and the creation of outdoor spaces that complement residential environments.

Leyla Alekperova was honored with the Maker's Prize for Excellence in Craftsmanship. A third-generation artist and plaster molding designer at Arkada Plus, Alekperova stands out for her ability to merge traditional craftsmanship with modern design techniques.

The selection process involved a jury of esteemed architects, designers, and academics, underscoring the ICAA's dedication to fostering talent that adheres to classical design principles while pushing the boundaries of innovation. These awards not only celebrate individual achievements but also signal the enduring relevance and evolution of classical architecture and design in today's world.
